Really, I am not my favorite subject. I suppose there are things people may want to know about me. I also suppose those three people could just ask me directly. In the event you want to know something, and I haven’t been perfectly clear in the above statement, here it is. I’m a woman. A mother, a wife, owner of countless shoes and the stories in my head make me a little bit crazy if I don’t get them out. It’s like releasing a valve on a dam so it doesn’t get too backed up, collapse spectacularly and ruin every one’s day who is within it’s reach. I have to pour them out slowly, otherwise there’s a spill and things get ugly.

My family, two boys, a girl and pretty cute husband are the best parts of my life. They are equal parts joy, inspiration, knowledge, and love. They are extremely supportive and I am forever grateful for the nights I stay up late writing and they think it’s the coolest thing ever.

I’ve always written. I’ve always been a writer. There hasn’t been a time when my thoughts haven’t ended up on paper. Not all of my writing ends up as a book, of course. But with diligence, patience, and an extraordinary amount of work more of that writing is going from ideas and ramblings to coherent novels and short stories. A writer and a novelist are different things. I am happy to report that I am both.

I have a lot of unfinished work collecting dust. I realize now what I need to do differently to bring those stories to life, and it’s much more than caffeine and root beer candies.

Sometimes I think I write fantasy because people would find my reality unbelievable.
